“Andrea Hodos is a gifted and caring Pilates instructor. Her standards are high without being overbearing — she has a natural sense of how much to push, when to adapt, and how to encourage. Andrea worked in conjunction with my physical therapist; together, they have helped me to relieve chronic hip pain that it seemed I would simply have to live with.”
Moving Body Pilates is a cozy Pilates studio in the Pico Robertson neighborhood run by certified Pilates trainer, Andrea Hodos. Andrea sees clients in private sessions and duets. She received her certification in the Pilates Method from Body Arts and Science International in 2006. She has an M. Ed in Dance education, and uses methods from her dance and somatic training, along with Pilates, to help her clients achieve proper body alignment and mechanics. Andrea especially appreciates collaborating with physical therapists, massage therapists and other allied health professionals to help her clients achieve and maintain strength, balance and health. Andrea is a remote participant in the Agility Program Trainers and Pilates Instructors Group which meets at the Parkinson’s Center of Oregon at Oregon Science and Health University. Most recently, Moving Body Pilates has collaborated with Invertigo Dance Theatre to design a dance class for people with PD called Dancing Through Parkinson’s. Andrea received a B. A. in English literature from Yale University. Her love of metaphor serves her clients well through the wide range of imagery and metaphor she employs to cue and motivate them during Pilates sessions. Andrea is also a performance artist and educator working in the Jewish and interfaith communities. You can click here to learn more about this work which she calls Moving Torah.
